AkademiMerdeka.org

AkademiMerdeka.org (the “Freedom Academy” in Bahasa Melayu/Indonesia) is a program oriented toward the populations of Malaysia, Indonesia, and Brunei. Originally launched in August 2008 as WauBebas.org, AkademiMerdeka.org, established in August 2009, is a joint project of the Global Initiative and the Malaysia Think Tank. It provides a platform for libertarian ideas in the language spoken by hundreds of millions of people from Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Singapore and other countries in the region. The first Freedom Academy was held in Kuala Lumpur in August 2008. AkademiMerdeka.org syndicates articles on public policy, liberty, and other topics to the popular media, as well as sponsors high level academic and policy seminars. AkademiMerdeka.org also works closely with the Guominliyi.org project (in Chinese).
