To mark the tenth year of administering the Templeton Freedom Awards, Atlas is proud to announce the 2013 Templeton Freedom Award with its new prize structure. For the first time in its history and in future years, the award will be presented to one winner along with a $100,000 prize recognizing exceptional think tank achievement. This fall, six finalists will be invited to attend the annual Liberty Forum in New York City, November 13-14, where the winner will be announced during the event’s Freedom Dinner, November 14. All finalists will receive a $5,000 prize.
This new award format builds on a rich history of recognizing and rewarding think tank excellence among the global network of free-market think tanks. This tradition has served to accelerate the growth of the overwhelming majority of the nearly 150 past winners, and the global network as a whole. In fact, 97 percent of winning organizations have subsequently seen their budgets, and influence, grow. Now, as the global network matures, the new Templeton Freedom Award will continue to inspire great achievements across the field as one very special achievement will receive this major prize each year.
Applications are now open for think tanks to nominate a specific project or larger body of work that, in the past two years, has achieved one or more of the following:
