Templeton Award Winner to Help Afghanistan Government

A 1^st prize winner of the 2004 Templeton Award in Free Market Solutions to Poverty, the Instituto de Libertad y Democracia (ILD) of Lima – Peru, seeks to expand their expertise to other regions as they have recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. As part of this new collaborative project, ILD will be training a team of Afghan professionals who will be charged with reforming Afghanistan’s extralegal economic sector. Aside from economic studies, ILD will be assisting security efforts in the region by identifying how terrorists exploit the widespread exclusion that results from weak property rights.
