At Atlas’s most recent Liberty Forum, I had the chance to run a fun two-hour discussion of the question, What will those who love freedom in year 2033 wish we had done more to address in 2008?
It was a great discussion. We were able to incorporate several “video contributions which were submitted by friends of Atlas in advance of the event. We recently uploaded a lot of video material from that session and organized this new interactive site Atlas Time Capsule 2033 – so there can be an ongoing discussion of where the freedom movement needs to concentrate its efforts.
I’d encourage you to browse around this new Time Capsule Web site. You can view video from the session (from panelists like Tom Palmer and Becky Norton Dunlop) and video submitted in advance by friends of Atlas like Jargal Dambadarjaa (Mongolia) and Enrico Colombatto (Italy). There’s also some fun “third-party” video that seemed somehow appropriate, like Ronald Reagan talking about a time capsule at the 1976 Republican National Convention and much older video forecasts of what the future would hold.
We have posted some discussion questions (such as What country will emerge in the next quarter century as a great example of how economic freedom produces economic growth?, as well as the written comments that some Atlas friends, like Khalil Ahmad (Pakistan) and Carl-Johan Westholm (Sweden), sent in to answer our question.
The best thing about this Time Capsule site is that you can get involved by commenting on existing material or adding your own video to our time capsule collection. I hope you will find it fun and thought-provoking. Below you will find yours truly kicking off the session at Liberty Forum.
p.s. I also recommending reading Charles Murray’s speech on the occassion of Atlas’s 25th anniversary, which I mention in the above video as the catalyst for our Time Capsule effort.
