The Future of Bolivia

Every month we hold a meeting at the Atlas office in Arlington entitled International Thursday; we bring speakers from all over the world to talk about international issues that are of concern to the worldwide freedom movement.

At yesterday’s meeting, Chris Brown, senior researcher for the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies, spoke about Bolivia and the current state of affairs there. Since 2005, Bolivia has been governed by el MAS,(Movement Toward Socialism) lead by Evo Morales, who has aggressively tried to implement socialist policies through a constitutional assembly. As Morales institutionalizes his control, he expands his power and implements state ownership of natural resources.

Brown, thank fully, assured us that the Bolivians would not give up their liberties without a fight. The Opposition has worked diligently‚ to halt Morales’ socialist agenda and has blocked the constitutional assembly from passing their referendum. We hope that these freedom loving citizens continue their efforts, as they set an example for all who are combating similar challenges throughout the world.

Check back later today to hear Chris Browns Presentation at International Thursday in our weekly podcast.
