Voices of Liberty

El Cato ( Cato Institutes Spanish department) recently held an essay contest called Voces de Libertad(Voices of Liberty). They received over a 165 essays, representing 12 Latin American countries. The contest set out to find young talented writers and supporters of freedom, who could describe the challenges facing Latin America today. Each participant was asked to answer three questions, addressing the public policies of their country, the reforms needed to advance liberty and comparing a basic principle for a free society to an actual issue in the region. The essays were judged by, Ian Vaszques (Cato Institute), Martin Krouse (ESEADE) and Atlas’s Romulo Lopez.

We would like to congratulate Axel Kaiser from Santiago Chile, who received first place in this competitive contest. Kaiser is a research fellow at Instituto Democracia y Mercado (Chile), a new think tank in the Atlas network.
