Despite the recent power sharing agreement between Robert Mugabe and Morgan Tsvingirai, Jasson Urbach of the Free Market Foundation of Southern Africa says that the European Union and the United States are justified in remaining skeptical of any agreement that continues to put Mugabe at the helm of the country. Urbach reports that Zimbabwe under Mugabe has occupied the lowest rank in the Economic Freedom of the World report for several years, making it the most economically repressive and un-free country in the world.
In this article, Urbach makes the case for private enterprise and long-term growth based on the foundations of personal and economic freedoms as the necessary elements for the future wealth and health of Zimbabwe.
