Atlas’s Partners in the Middle East

The Middle East and the Muslim world- from Morocco in the West to Indonesia in the East; from Azerbaijan to the North and the strategic location of the Gulf region- are experiencing a paradoxical period of parallel turmoil, unrest and prosperity.

Islamic countries are practicing traditional Islamic commerce along with new globalization methods and old-fashioned capitalism. These combined practices can create opportunities as well as road blocks. At Atlas, we believe one of the ways to help countries at the crossroads of either democracy or dictatorship and socialism is to find and nurture institutions that can advance the ideas of free markets, the rule of law, and respect for individual citizens; an approach that is compatible with basic Islamic practices and traditions. In order to improve the lives of ordinary citizens, and give future generations a chance to build and rebuild, Atlas and its friends believe we must invest in constructive and innovative methods in the Muslim world in order to have lasting peace.

Our vision at Atlas is to work through partners and friends in the region to continue to help these ideas take root and flourish. We work with partners such as Free Minds Association in Azerbaijan, Alternate Solutions Institute in Pakistan, Association for Liberal Thinking, in Turkey and PalThink for Strategic Studies in Gaza, to name a few.

In order to reach the young and talented people of the Muslim world, Atlas is currently conducting the Ibn Khaldun Essay Contest. Ibn Khaldun was 14th Century Arab-Muslim scholar. For more information please checkhere.
