Think Tank Leaders Brave Arizona Weather

Sandstorms, monsoon rains and afternoon temperatures reaching 99 degrees did not dissaude close to 500 participants from over 170 organizations from convening in Scottsdale, Arizona, for the State Policy Network’s (SPN) Education Summit and 16th Annual Meeting. From September 10-12, participants discussed think tank development and ‘best practices’ and engaged in conversations in the areas of education, climate change, health care and transparency. New sessions included how to utilize investigative journalists and how to leverage new Web 2.0 technologies such as Twitter. SPN’s annual Thomas Roe Award, a top honor for free-market leadership, was given to Brooke Rollins, President of the Texas Public Policy Foundation.
