Check out the recently released video by Dan Mitchell of the Cato Institute, analyzing the so-called stimulus plan. 

The message of this video is that people should be encouraged to save and not to spend. The current financial crisis is due to bad government policies that have motivated too much irresponsible expenditure. We certainly don’t need more of that! People should be encouraged to spend responsibly when real jobs, goods and services, are created by the private sector, not by the government. Any kind of government expansion to try to stimulate the economy competes with the private sector, hence discourages private and foreign investment in the country. This is the type of mistake the government needs to avoid from making again, so that it does not create another crisis on top of the current one.
