It would seem impossible that a young, educated, strong free-market champion, like Oscar Ortíz Antelo, would ever win a Senate seat in Bolivia. It happened last year. Last weekend, Bolivians again had to choose a head of the Senate and guess what? To the surprise of the Socialists and President Evo Morales, Oscar Ortíz won again. Oscar is a former think tank leader from the city of Santa Cruz, his principles and leadership style have allowed him to win the respect of friends and foes.
If you care about freedom in the Andes, keep in mind Oscar and the efforts of many Bolivians to create their own Road to Liberty.
