Via Dr. Parth J. Shah of the Centre for Civil Society, it seems that blogger-cum-fiction writer Amit Varma has been named one of India’s 50 Most Powerful People in 2009 by BusinessWeek. I like these types power ratings, as they acknowledge that power doesn’t always flow from the gun.
Varma’s blog, India Uncut, is on my blog feeder, but it’s really more for those who follow Indian politics, which, I must admit, I don’t really. (What, do you?) Varma first came to my attention after he won IPN’s Bastiat Prize in 2007, for his columns at MINT magazine.
(And for those who are annoyed at the title of this blog post, and its blatant rip-off of Snap!’s 1990 hit “The Power”, I apologize; titles are sometimes difficult.)
(For those who came of age in 1990, the title of this post is an allusion to the “hit” The Power by Snap!)
