The Associate Director  of Institute Relations,  will oversee the development and supervision of the Institute Relations team at the Atlas Economic Research Foundation, playing a key role in organizing how Atlas serves think tanks and prospective think tank leaders.

The Atlas Economic Research Foundation exists to grow and strengthen the global network of independent think tanks that advance ideas of individual liberty, economic freedom, and the rule of law under limited government.

Atlas raises funds from individuals, foundations, and corporations to support its general operations as an information hub and an informal “help desk” for think tanks.  It also conducts several large programs that advance its mission via awards, conferences, grants, training workshops, and promoting the ideas of liberty to new audiences.

May 21, 2009  Job Description- Associate Director of Institute Relations

The Atlas Economic Research Foundation exists to grow and strengthen the global network of independent think tanks that advance ideas of individual liberty, economic freedom, and the rule of law under limited government.

Atlas raises funds from individuals, foundations, and corporations to support its general operations as an information hub and an informal “help desk” for think tanks.  It also conducts several large programs that advance its mission via awards, conferences, grants, training workshops, and promoting the ideas of liberty to new audiences.

The Associate Director Institute Relations,  will oversee the development and supervision of the Institute Relations team at the Atlas Economic Research Foundation, playing a key role in organizing how Atlas serves think tanks and prospective think tank leaders.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing  and implementing  the operational plan for the IR team, including:
  • Communications – providing and integrating knowledge and information to meet the organization’s overall needs.<
  • Information management – Overseeing information flows internally at Atlas, so that the organization’s varied programs are benefiting from dispersed information
  • Leadership development – providing mentoring and training to grow the skills of the team
  • Overseeing the day to day management of the IR team, including:
  • Fielding inquiries from think tanks
  • Cultivate potential partners for Atlas’s network and programs
  • Conducting due diligence on think tanks
  • Developing resources  for the free market international think tank network
  • Creating programs to grow the network
  • Managing projects that create value for think tank leaders

An ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, and a self-starter in developing new programs and exhibiting initiative.  Commitment to the  the cause of liberty is a plus.   Other important characteristics: strong communication skills; comfort with database software; ability to work collaboratively with team members; experience working with think tanks; experience working across international cultures, and familiarity with classical liberal ideas.
Salary is commensurate with experience.
