Atlas’s Favorite Freedom Videos

This is the first in a weekly series of staff picks for great freedom minded online videos.  Each week, members of Atlas’s staff will select their favorite videos created by  individuals or organizations  that effectively convey the message of freedom to a wider audience.

This week’s picks:

Selected by both Atlas’s President Alex Chafuen and Allegra Hewell, this video produced by CEDICE in Venezuela, expresses the need for protection of property rights. This video prompted moves by the Venezuelan government to close radio and television stations in the country, we posted about this yesterday.

This next video selection comes from Atlas’s newest staff member Elle Speicher, who will be working with think tanks in Africa and North America. “This was a video made for a contest run by the Galen Institute entitled “First Do No Harm“. I like it because it not only is hilarious, but effective in getting people thinking about the growth of government into the health care sector. It includes fact as well as humor, and builds upon a character (Steve Irwin, Crocodile Hunter) that people are familiar with.”

My selection for this week isn’t necessarily new, Mises Media recently posted this film, The Incredible Bread Machine online, which  originally aired in 1975. This film, though it may look dated, still rings true, and is surprisingly on target with many of the economic debates we’re having today. Plus, these kids are pretty cool!

In addition to these excellent videos the Moving Picture Institute has begun releasing “Moving Minutes,”  snippets of commercial well known films that effectively express the importance of personal independence.

What videos are you excited about? Post them in the comments!
