There are two promising free market events in Asia during the next two weeks, both of which I’ll have the pleasure of attending.
The first is the annual meeting of the Economic Freedom Network Asia, a project of the Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung für die Freiheit. This year’s meeting will be held in Siem Reap, home of the fabled Angkor Wat Temples. For two days, we’ll be hearing from a great lineup, including Prof. Lawrence White of GMU, Dr. Michael Walker of the Fraser Institute, and Parth Shah of the Centre for Civil Society. (You can see the full roster here).
Next week, Singapore will be the site of the Pacific Rim Policy Exchange, hosted by the Americans for Tax Reform. Speaking will be Cato’s Dan Mitchell, Peter Wong of Hong Kong’s Lion Rock Institute, Masuru Uchiyama of Japanese for Tax Reform, and a keynote speech from former William McGurn, a former speech writer for George W. Bush.
Looking over the lineups for both events, it great to see how many local voices there are, and just how many Asian-based free market think tanks are out there.
