Flat Taxes Aren’t Just for Eastern Europeans

Countries like Estonia, Bulgaria and Romania have been at the forefront of a trend towards implementing low flat tax rates for both personal and corporate taxes. David Seymour over at the Saskatchewan branch of the Frontier Centre for Public Policy is now making the case that they don’t have to be the only people to benefit, jurisdictions within Canada should give the flat tax a chance as well.

Take a look at his recent paper, “Five Single Tax Rate Thoughts” which builds a solid case for dialogue on this topic.

Alvin Rabushka, a key economist on this topic at the Hoover Institution had this to say about the study:

“David Seymour, director of the Frontier Center for Public Policy (Saskatchewan office), has written an important paper that should help frame the debate on tax policy for all of Canada’s provinces. “Five Single Rate Tax Thoughts,” presents a compelling case that Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, and the other provinces would benefit from enacting a low flat tax that has given Alberta the best investment and work climate in Canada.”
