With the help of Atlas’s sound money fellows, Tom Duncan and John Robinson (Ph.D. econ students at George Mason University), the Sound Money Project at Atlas is starting to attract attention. Several state and national nonprofit organizations (the likes of the Pacific Research Institute, FEE, and the Illinois Policy Institute) have been contacted in regard to both the project and the essay contest. According to Tom, “Think tanks and policy institutions from all over the U.S. have responded positively and offered to support this project by distributing information throughout their networks. Academics from a number of colleges and universities have offered to promote these ideas to their students and on their blogs. Interest in the issue of inflation is growing, and Atlas looks for this trend to continue.” Hopefully, with the creation of an interactive sound money website (which is in the works), we will be able to invite the “wisdom crowds” to pitch in their ideas and policy prescriptions on how best to correct our failed fiscal policies.
We would also like to remind everyone that the deadline for the essay contest is fast approaching (November 24th). To clarify a contest rule on how to reference theSoundMoney Resource Page: we encourage everyone to take advantage of the reading list but we are not in any way requiring contestants to write their essay based on the materials listed there. They are being offered as mere guidelines.
