Samriddhi, The Prosperity Foundation (Nepal) has begun a petition drive for a “Livable Nepal.” The campaign, which includes a website, petition, and advocacy materials, aims to increase a dialogue within Nepal on the institutions that support peaceful coexistence. Even though this is ostensibly a petition drive, the website is really much more than this, as it aims to create a community of interested individuals, organizations, and associations who come from differing political views, but who share a belief in social harmony.

Among other things, the petition calls for the protection of property rights, stating, “Every Nepali has the right to own what s/he has legally earned through hard work and investment of time, financial and knowledge resource. No one should be able to take away with the use of force and violence what rightfully belongs to us. Ensure that Nepalis are allowed to pursue opportunities to better their lives without having to go through unnecessary bureaucratic hurdles and regulations.”
