UPDATED: Help for Haiti

Haiti Earthquake

In this time of great turmoil for the nation of Haiti, we thought it would be prudent to offer a few organizations who are doing good work  in the country.

  • Deep Springs International, a former Atlas TFA Winner, has long been active in Haiti, focused on bringing sustainable clean water to the country. They focus on the long term in Haiti, not soley on immediate relief efforts, you can read more about their work here.
  • Mercy Corps- this charity organization  is known for promoting individual freedom options in the nations where they are active. Compared to some other disaster relief charities, Mercy Corps does
only a small amount of lobbying and relies heavily on private
donations (as opposed to government funding).
  • Atlas’s one active think tank in Haiti, Fondation Espoire, was thank fully not disastrously effected by the earthquake, but the founder of the group, Hans Tippenhaur says, “me and my family are safe so far. Some of our resources have been hit but fortunately our building stood up.
We will evaluate the damages soon but now it is all about concentrating on trying to help the people in immediate need.”
  • Update: The Human Rights Foundation, a group whose founder has spoken for Atlas in the past has paired up with actor Kelsey Grammar in a matching grant program  to raise funds for Haiti. More Information.
