A New Iphone App Makes it Easy to Protest

Do you ever drive over a pothole and wish it would get fixed, ever feel particularly angry about a recent new tax, and want to let your government officials know how you feel? Now you have that opportunity . The Prometheus Institute has spent the last year working to develop a new application for Iphones that lets you contact government officials with just a few taps of your finger. DIY Democracy (active only in California currently) seeks to mobilize individuals in a very simple way to log their complaints with government waste and inefficiency. This is an exciting step for think tanks, mobile applications, and I for one am very excited to see this new strategy success.

Take a look, download the app, and let Prometheus know what you think!

Congrats Prometheus! FYI, when I downloaded this nifty app iTunes recommended another app from the Sunlight Foundation – which focuses on government transparency – that allows you to monitor the transgressions in Congress in real-time. “This app puts the actions, meetings and documents that make up the legislative process right at your fingertips.” It’s free as well.
